What is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)?

For Adults the symptoms often interfere with success at work, home and in social settings. Adults may realize that what they are experiencing is a pattern of problems they have faced since childhood.
How is ADHD diagnosed and treated?
ADHD is diagnosed by using a variety of reliable and valid tests and also by obtaining information via observations, teacher/parent reports, and self-reports.
A multi-modal approach is often used to treat ADHD. This may include stimulant medication, parent training, psychotherapy, social skills training, and cognitive-behavioral training.
How can I tell if a coach is qualified?
At the present time there is no specific certification for ADHD Coaching. Reputable sources such as university research programs, psychologists, psychiatrists, teachers and parents can provide referrals.
How long will I need to work with a coach?
That depends upon how quickly you incorporate the tools and the strategies provided by an ADHD coach into your daily life.
